What research areas does Inverted AI fund?

Inverted AI focuses on advancing research in autonomous vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems (AV/ADAS), with particular interest in behavioral modeling and reinforcement learning that contributes to the development of open-source tools and research environments. What types of proposals does Inverted AI fund?

What is the structure of an Inverted AI Research award? Can it be extended?

Awards are made solely in the form of Inverted AI API credits, allowing flexibility in how best to achieve the research objectives. Awards are initially granted for a one-year period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Who is eligible to apply?

Eligibility is open only to academic researchers and institutions that demonstrate the capability to contribute effectively to the specified research fields.

What are the timelines for proposal submissions and decisions?

Inverted AI encourages ongoing submissions with periodic reviews. Decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Who evaluates the proposals and when will I know the outcome?

Project proposals are reviewed by an internal awards panel.  Applicants can expect to hear the outcome within a few months from the submission deadline.  We will communicate the decision to the primary PI listed on each proposal. We expect the primary PI to notify the rest of their team about funding decisions.

Is it possible to have multiple faculty members on a single proposal?

Yes, proposals can include multiple faculty members to encourage collaborative research efforts across disciplines and institutions.

Is it possible for one faculty member to be on multiple grants?

Generally, there are no restrictions against a faculty member being involved in multiple grants unless specifically noted by Inverted AI’s program guidelines.

What happens after the research award recipients are announced?

Recipients are expected to commence their research according to the approved proposals, adhere to reporting requirements, and engage with the Inverted AI community through updates, presentations, and collaborative initiatives.

Does Inverted AI retain any intellectual property and licensing on the material developed during the time period that a student is funded?

Do recipients have access to Inverted AI data?

Does Inverted AI accept any legal obligation with respect to submitted proposals?

Inverted AI does not accept any legal obligation (whether of confidentiality, compensation, return or otherwise) with respect to any proposals. Inverted AI reserves the right to implement similar ideas in the future without restriction or obligation.
